For English this half term we will be introducing a new text to the class called Leaf. We will read the book in small sections over the 6 weeks and might not find out what happens until near the end of term.
One day a large white creature floats to shore and tries to find shelter and safety in an old cave. The animals of the Wild Wood fear him at first and name him leaf because they observe him gathering leaves and because they want him to leave.
What is this creature doing here and how long will he stay?
If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise.
Foxes and badgers , voles and mice, beady-eyed owls in the swaying tree tops. Beneath the leaves are tiny footprints... animal or imp? You decide!
We will be focusing on the looking at the different parts of a plant and what jobs they do, finding out about the different types of trees as well as looking at map work and creating our own woodland maps.
For Maths this half term we will be looking at doubling, finding equal groups of an amount, describing position, recognise coins and notes and finding halves and quarters.
Children will continue to partition numbers and count in tens forwards and backwards.
We will be using lots of practical equipment to support children’s learning
