Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!
See the castle ahead? Get ready to invade its mighty walls! Shoot a projectile with an archer's aim! Head across a drawbridge, over the moat and up to the top of the tower...
We will be learning about different castles in the UK, the different parts of a castle and will make castles and battlements. We may even visit a castle ruin and explore the history.
This term in English we will be looking at the story of Rapunzel and The Tunnel by Anthony Browne. We will learn the story and change elements to create our own.
We will also learn how to write diary entries, letters instructions and letters.
We will continue to have spellings to learn each week and a test of these will take place every Wednesday.
In Maths this half term we will be recapping the four different operations as well as our 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables. We will continue to develop our fluency with number facts, times tables and odd and even numbers.
We will continue to look at different 2D and 3D shapes, trying to name and describe their properties as well as identifying different everyday shapes within our environments.
We will be looking into how to tell the time and will begin to read the times to 5 minutes as well as solve different problems such as:
"Tom leaves his house at 20 past 8. It takes him 15 minutes to get to school what time does he arrive?"
Lots of our Maths this half term will involve solving problems related to Rapunzel and castles.
