For the first three weeks, we will continue the topic 'Food, Glorious Food!' from Year 3. We will learn about the digestive system, teeth, and the importance of hygiene.
Then we will start our main Autumn Term topic, 'Potions'. This topic focuses on changing state of materials, with an English link to the books in the 'Harry Potter' series by J.K.Rowling.
In English, we will learn and retell an explanation text about the digestive system, before returning to our story-writing skills.
Once we start the topic 'Potions', we will read and write stories with a magical theme, and create our own imaginative spells.
In Maths, we will continue to develop our number knowledge and skills, working with both negative numbers and 4-digit numbers in calculations and problems. We will also keep practising our times tables (recall of both multiplication & division facts); our target for this term is counting in multiples of 25.
Our class story will be 'The Demon Dentist' by David Walliams.
