Follow the water cycle’s course from peak to valley and meet the exceptional tribes of the hostile Himalayas. Then plan a mountain expedition from the BMC that is eco-friendly and safe as can be. This half term we will be using our number and place value knowledge to solve problems. We will also be developing more formal methods for multiplication and division.
Throughout the half term we will be working on fractions and finding fractions of amounts and begin to look at equivalent fractions.
Alongside this we will be learning our 6 times tables and corresponding division facts through daily activities.
We are reading The Hobbit, to link with our topic, and using this to inspire our writing this half term. We will be focusing on developing our story writing skills, with a focus on speech and sentence openers. After that, we will be writing our own voyage and return stories in the style of J.R Tolkien.
For our non-fiction focus, we will be looking at non-chronological reports and writing our own on dragons. Our key writing focus for non-fiction is to use conjunctions (e.g. and, but, because, so, if, when) to add extra detail to our sentences.
