The topic this half term will be ‘Moon Zoom’ This topic has a focus of Science, Geography and History.
We will be looking at different materials, and their properties. Creating our own rocket ships and finding out about famous astronauts. We will learn about physical geographical features and will look at maps and atlases. Hopefully we wont find too many aliens along the way!
This half term in English we will be basing lots of our work on the story of ‘’Whatever Next by Jill Murphy’ and the ‘Beegu’ by Alexis Deacon
Children will get to know the story and the characters before writing their own version of it. We will be also be teaching the children how to write non-fiction pieces such as letter.
Alongside this, children will continue to practice and consolidate phonics sounds being taught each week. We will also continue to work on our handwriting and letter formation.
This half term in Maths, the children will be working on number.
They will be learning to order numbers, compare numbers, count objects and place value. We will be using a lot of practical equipment to support our learning. Pease remember to look at ‘seesaw’ to see what we have been doing.
Children will continue learn to count in 2s and number bonds to 10 and 20. They will also work on developing strategies to help with addition and subtraction. We will also be learning about time, shape and measures.
