Our Autumn 2 topic is Tremors.
This has a Science, History & Geography focus, looking at rocks, the Earth, and natural disasters. We will look particularly at volcanoes and why they erupt, before focusing on the volcanic area around Naples in Italy.
The cross-curricular English focus is on the book 'Escape from Pompeii'.
The children will be writing a story based on 'Escape from Pompeii', then we will focus on the features of newspaper reports and write an article about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD79.
In Maths, the children will be developing their number skills, through formal written methods for all 4 operations. They will also be practising mental skills, such as number bonds and times table knowledge, and applying their problem-solving skills to money.
At the end of the day, we will be reading The Julian Stories by Ann Cameron.
