For the first four weeks of the half term, we will be following a whole school project to the story ‘The Fox and the Star’ which is an story by Coralie Bickford-Smith. It follows the journey of a Fox as he starts to believe in himself and make new friends. We will be using this in class to develop a variety of skills across the curriculum to help develop social, emotional and general wellbeing skills.
Throughout the topic, we will be looking at different habitats and different woodland creatures. We will explore different types of weather and look at some different paintings by famous artists including ‘Starry Night’ by Van Gogh. We will explore different emotions and how we can deal with these as well as developing empathy towards others.
We will then move on to a superhero topic. We will be reading the story ‘Supertato’ and basing our English learning around this. We will be thinking about the different things we can do—our special skills and talents. We will learn about people who help us and how we can help others as well as looking at different foods from around the world.
