This half term, our topic is the awesome-sounding Scrumdiddlyumptious! The focus is on food, with the linked text being Roald Dahl's classic "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory", and we will end in July with a trip to our own local chocolate factory, Cadbury's World!
The children will explore the film and text of "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory", including Roald Dahl's eccentric use of the English language, before writing their own stories based on the structure and his style. They will then move onto non-fiction, learning how to persuade people through adverts for their own chocolates and sweets...
In Maths, the children will be developing their number skills, looking at place value and formal written methods for all 4 operations. They will also be practising mental skills, such as number bonds and times table knowledge. We will also look at fractions, capacity, time and data handling.
At the end of the day, we will read the classic story "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory".
