The Enchanted Woodland
If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise.
Foxes and badgers , voles and mice, beady-eyed owls in the swaying tree tops. Beneath the leaves are tiny footprints... animal or imp? You decide!
We will be focusing on the looking at the different parts of a plant and what jobs they do.
We will also be looking at map work and creating our own woodland maps.
Hansel and Gretel
This term we will be looking at the story of Hansel and Gretel. We will use this to write our own fiction story. We are going to use the story of Hansel and Gretel to create a brand new fiction story with our own characters and setting. We will continue to work on using adjectives in our writing to describe our characters and setting and will also continue to look at different punctuation to make our writing more exciting.
We will continue to have discrete phonics lessons at other points of the day to allow the children to continue to learn new sounds needed for their reading and writing.
After these phonics sessions your child may bring home some spellings or words and sounds to practice, please support your child to practice their reading and spelling.
This half term we will continue to further develop children's understanding of number through addition and subtraction.
We will continue to deepen our understanding through problem solving and begin to look at developing our reasoning skills.
We will be looking at fractions of shapes and numbers this half term. Do you know how to find a 1/2 or 1/4 of a shape or number?
We will continue to consolidate our knowledge of counting in groups of 2, 5 and 10.
