To Try Our Very Best in All We Do

Welcome to our new school website

Reading books.

All children have a school reading book and diary pitched to their level of reading. this may be at the same level or different to their friends. Children should practise reading their book often at home and bring their book to school daily for time when they are listened to by the teachers.

To show your child has read, please make a simple comment within their diaries. children may be asked to read a book more than once to ensure they have a good understanding of things which have happened.

Please encourage children to talk about their books as well as reading them to develop their comprehension skills.

Questions you could ask...

How is the character feeling? how do you know?

What might they be saying?

How would you feel if you were in the story?

Would you like to be in the story?

What other things can you see in the pictures? - think about people, places, objects.

Can you describe the things in the pictures (e.g a flower... a red flower... a big, red flower.... a big, red flower which smells nice.)
