Thar’s land ahead, me buckos! Let’s get t’ship t’port.

Homework sheet to follow.
This half term in English we will be basing lots of our work on the story of 'Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs: The Magic Cutlass'.
Children will get to know the story and the characters before writing their very own adventure story!
As well as story writing, the children will be given the opportunity to learn about non-chronological reports and write their own report about pirates and explorers.
Children will continue to develop their spelling skills through consolidation and practising new spelling patterns using the Read, Write, Inc scheme and the Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words. Children receive daily spelling sessions for twenty minutes.
Children are continuing to take part in more formal guided reading sessions, where they are gaining a greater depth and understanding of the texts read and to further develop their comprehension skills.
This half term the children will continue to develop their strategies to help with place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They will also learn how to double and halve, find fractions of shapes and amounts.
Children will be learning more about time, money and measures, including length and height, as well as learn the names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
